The shoebox problem
Most moving companies run operations in one place and money in another - receipts in a truck, payroll in a spreadsheet, carrier settlements on paper. The reconciliation happens at month-end, or at tax time, and by then nobody remembers which job a receipt belonged to.
Because Store Stash already holds the jobs, the drivers and the payments, the accounting side works from the same records rather than a separate copy.
What is included
Expenses
A full ledger with an approval workflow - pending, approved or rejected with a reason. Categories, vendors, receipt attachments, multiple currencies, and recurring templates that post automatically. Only approved expenses count toward the monthly summary, so the P&L is not polluted by unreviewed spend.
Attendance
A weekly Sunday-to-Saturday grid covering employees and team drivers, marking work days and PTO, with hours for hourly staff. It feeds payroll directly.
Employee payroll
Set each employee’s basis - day rate, hourly, or salary - and run payroll for a week. Day rate multiplies by days worked; hourly pays overtime above 40 hours at 1.5x; salary is fixed; PTO pays at the standard rate. Runs are draft until finalised.
Carrier closing sheets
The carrier settlement form: header, per-job line items, totals, loss and damage exceptions, and a scan of the paper form attached. Rolls up into weekly carrier earnings and a year-end 1099 summary.
Monthly financial summary
Revenue collected, minus approved expenses, minus payroll (employee and carrier) equals net - with expenses broken down by category and the payroll split shown. Exportable as CSV.
Calculate and record, not disburse. Store Stash produces the numbers and the audit trail. It does not move money or file taxes - it gives your accountant clean data instead of a pile of receipts.
Questions
Does Store Stash include accounting for moving companies?
Yes, on the Premium plan: expenses with an approval workflow, vendors and categories, recurring expense templates, attendance, employee payroll, carrier closing sheets, and a monthly profit-and-loss summary.
Is accounting an extra add-on?
No. It is included in Premium at $199 per month. It is not available on Basic ($175) and is not sold separately.
Does it replace my accountant or file taxes?
No. Store Stash calculates and records - expenses, payroll runs, carrier settlement and a monthly P&L. It does not disburse funds or file taxes. It gives your accountant clean, itemised numbers instead of a shoebox.
How is revenue calculated in the monthly summary?
Revenue counts the payments actually collected against jobs in that month at the three capture points (pickup, storage drop, delivery). Costs are approved expenses plus payroll - finalised employee runs and carrier closing sheets.
